A suspected piece of Civil War-era ordnance prompted a response from local and military officials Tuesday morning after a resident reported the device could be a live explosive.

According to the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched shortly before 8 a.m. to the 21000 block of FM 791 after a caller reported possessing what he believed to be a Civil War-era artillery round.

The caller told deputies he had owned the ordnance for years and believed it was a dummy round.
