MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA/Gray News) - A father in Texas is charged with murder after leaving his child inside a vehicle for about nine hours following a night of drinking, authorities said.

According to the Midland Police Department, officers were called Sunday at 7:56 p.m. to respond to a report of an unresponsive child locked inside a vehicle.

Investigators said officers identified the child's father as Lorenzo Rodriguez.
