The Pecan Valley Genealogical Society is celebrating its 47th anniversary, and the History and Genealogy Library is marking 20 years in service, with a Thursday open house event until 5 p.m. at 213 South Broadway.

Local historian Clay Riley with the Pecan Valley Genealogical Society, which dates to 1979, spoke with BrownwoodNews.com Thursday regarding the origins of and services provided by the History and Genealogy Library.

"We're in an ideal location in downtown, across from the courthouse, and the Museum of History and the tax office are around the corners," Riley said.
