LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - East Texas student plans for post-graduation appear to be shifting somewhat in recent years.
At a college and career fair in Longview on Thursday, they shared what they're planning for their future, and the answer wasn't always college."I want to be a labor and delivery nurse," Reagan Jennings, New Diana Student said."My current plan is to go to Texas A&M," Reid Young, high school senior, said."Not many girls are fire fighters in this generation," Alanee Alvarez, a Pittsburg high school student, said.
"Trying to change the world and just giving back."There are trade schools, universities and certifications, but with college costs rising, some students are looking for alternate routes."Low-paying jobs, you really can't get any jobs around here no more, so if your parents don't pay for it, you've got to pay for it. Out of pocket. It's really expensive," Kandon Sheridan, a high school senior, said.
