LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock County Historical Commission will unveil a new Texas Historical Marker on Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the northeast corner of University Avenue and Baylor Street.

Professional baseball came to Lubbock in 1922 with the team known as the Lubbock Hubbers, named after Lubbock's nickname as a transportation hub.

The Black Hubbers, Lubbock's first African-American semi-pro baseball team, was formed by 1928.
