Gillespie County Commissioners Court approved an independent audit of county accounts and the county treasurer's office at its regular meeting Oct. 13.

County Judge Daniel Jones said Chapter 115 of the Texas Local Government Code requires a finding that the audit would best serve the public interest.

"If the court is of the opinion that that's the case, then we can authorize the retaining of an independent CPA or an accounting firm to commence an audit," Jones said.
