A major redevelopment project in downtown Houston has reached another milestone, with a new parking garage completed as construction continues on the $1. 14 billion first phase of the city's Convention District Transformation Project.

Mayor John Whitmire joined Houston First Corporation on Thursday to celebrate the completion of the GRB South Garage, a 1,000-space facility at 1835 Bell Street near Chenevert Street.

The garage is already being used for Houston Rockets games, concerts and other events at Toyota Center.
