NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced the promotion of a Central Heights native to the rank of captain for its Nacogdoches District.

The agency promoted Shawna Poole, who graduated from SFA with her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in educational leadership, according to the agency.

In a press release, the agency said Poole's interest in law enforcement began with her involvement with the Nacogdoches Police Explorers, an annual teenage academy focused on law enforcement education.
