HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- High-ranking county officials in Texas can be removed from office for getting intoxicated while off-duty, according to state law.
That law appears in Chapter 87 of the Texas Local Government Code and applies to officials such as county judges, sheriffs, and district attorneys.
"An officer may be removed for intoxication on or off duty caused by drinking an alcoholic beverage," the code states.
