Comal County has developed an application and selection process for those wishing to participate in the Water Quality Protection Lands Program, for which the county was awarded $30 million in financial assistance from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) in July.

The program, supported by $25,575,000 in financing and $4,425,000 in principal forgiveness funds from the TWDB Clean Water State Revolving Fund, allows the county to purchase land within aquifer recharge and contributing zones, the watersheds of the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers and Dry Comal, Cibolo and Alligator creeks, The Herald-Zeitung previously reported.

County Engineer Robert Boyd presented the commissioners court with the land selection process and application for the program on Oct. 29, which was developed with the assistance of Moriarty and Associates consultants.
