Couple in their 70s found dead in murder-suicide at Cypress-area home, HCSO says

Investigators are examining what they believe was a murder-suicide Friday morning in a Cypress-area home that left an elderly couple dead from gunshot wounds.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the residence in the 13200 block of Campos Drive after receiving a call from a family member who said he had discovered his parents unresponsive in their bedroom. Emergency responders confirmed both individuals dead at the scene, with medical personnel verifying their deaths.

The couple, a husband and wife both in their 70s, died from gunshot injuries sustained inside their bedroom. Based on evidence found at the scene and the positioning of the bodies, authorities concluded the husband fatally shot his wife before using the weapon on himself, according to law enforcement officials.

The son who lived in the home was the person who initially contacted emergency services and discovered the bodies. Investigators interviewed the surviving family member as part of their ongoing inquiry into the incident.

Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives remained at the property as they processed evidence and gathered information from family members present at the residence. The investigation continued Friday as detectives worked to document details and circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office did not immediately disclose additional details about potential motives or the circumstances leading to the incident. The case remains under active investigation.
