Early Sunday morning, an altercation at an Arlington apartment complex erupted into gunfire, leaving three men wounded and prompting a swift manhunt that ended with two arrests in a neighboring city.
Arlington police responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. to reports of a disturbance at an apartment complex located in the 900 block of Terrell Circle. Upon arrival, officers found three gunshot victims receiving assistance from residents at the scene. The injured men, ages 23, 36 and 45, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. According to the Arlington Police Department, all three are anticipated to recover from their wounds.
Investigators determined that the two suspects had attended a party at the complex where they initiated a physical confrontation with other partygoers. During the escalating fight, one of the men retrieved a firearm and discharged it multiple times. Both suspects then fled the scene in a pickup truck.
Officers arriving at the apartment complex spotted a vehicle matching the suspects' description departing at high speed. A regional alert was issued to law enforcement agencies in the area as authorities worked to track down the fleeing truck. Mansfield police and Tarrant County sheriff's deputies located the vehicle in Mansfield and conducted a traffic stop. Following identification by a witness present at the apartment complex, officers took both occupants into custody.
Alexander Rubio, 19, who was operating the vehicle, was booked into the Arlington City Jail and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of evading police. His passenger, Cristian Rubio Lora, 40, was booked on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
