GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KXII) - Grayson County commissioners say they are still dealing with the effects of a sales tax vote that failed last fall, as they look for new ways to increase funding for fire and EMS services in unincorporated areas of the county.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Lindsay Wright said the county proposed a county assistance district, or CAD, last fall that would have created a 1. 5% sales tax collected only in the unincorporated part of the county.

The funds would have gone toward fire and EMS, law enforcement and detention, and road and bridge capital projects."They didn't want any additional money for fire and EMS in the unincorporated part of the county," Wright said.
