Texas land commissioner race pits incumbent Dawn Buckingham against Benjamin Flores

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - With two weeks remaining until Election Day, Republican candidate Dawn Buckingham, who has served as Texas land commissioner since 2023, faces Democratic candidate Benjamin Flores for the seat.

As Texas land commissioner, whoever is elected would manage roughly 13 million acres of state-owned land and natural resources to generate revenue for the Permanent School Fund and protect public interests.

Buckingham cites agency's role"We literally are that agency that rolls up our sleeves every single day and most people had no idea that we existed," Buckingham said.
