HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- On this first day of early voting, Governor Greg Abbott is working to get his supporters to the polls.

He knows how critical Harris County can be in a statewide race, especially since he lost Harris County by nearly ten points when he won reelection for a second time four years ago.

"Harris County is really important," Abbott told ABC13. "I won my very first race here in Harris County. It's been important every election cycle. What we have found today is that voter turnout is enormous among Republicans. We'll see how it all ends up." Democrat Gina Hinojosa was here this weekend, campaigning on Sunday.
