HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A unanimous Houston City Council voted to begin enforcing a state law requiring candidates for public office to report who contributes to their campaigns.

The measure passed Wednesday and was led by At-Large Councilman Julian Ramirez.

It creates a process to identify candidates who submit campaign finance reports late or fail to file them.
