HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- After reports that one of Texas's largest counties was experiencing a voter registration backlog, Harris County officials confirmed that at least 11,000 voter registration records have been processed.
The Office of the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector & Voter Registrar, Anne Ramirez, confirmed on Monday that a team of 50+ members manually reviewed and processed unexpected records to ensure voters are eligible to participate in the November midterm elections.
According to county officials, nearly 75,000 applications were submitted in the backlog caused by a "state-level error." According to a previous ABC13 report, the Department of Public Safety said certain records submitted online "were incomplete and not fully transmitted" to the secretary of state's office.
