At Monday's meeting of the Brown County Commissioners Court, approval was given to the purchase of heavy equipment to use in the fighting of wildfires.

One year ago the Pecan Bayou Soil and Water Conservation District began working on a grant from the Community Wildfire Defense Grant Program, and was approved for $1. 3-million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through the Texas Forest Service.

The equipment to be purchased - shredders, mulchers, blowers, etc.
