Earlier this year, more than 270,000 students across Texas applied for the state's new school voucher program, known as Texas Education Freedom Accounts, or TEFA.

A district-level report released by the Texas Comptroller's Office, which oversees the program, identified 92,728 awarded applications in June.

However, the statewide total is higher because the report excludes districts with fewer than 30 awards to protect student privacy.
