HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A flare with heavy black smoke was spotted in southeast Houston due to a power outage at the chemical plant in the TPC Group Houston Operations facility on Monday afternoon, according to the company.

TPC Group Houston Operations says that the incident happened at 8600 Park Place Boulevard at 2:51 p.m. A heavy plume of smoke was visible on Houston TranStar cameras.

The company shared the following statement on Monday: We do not expect any impact to our employees, industrial or community neighbors, as we work to resolve the issue safely and quickly.
