For the first time since 1941, a Coupland High School athlete will represent the Cowboys at the state cross country meet.

Freshman runner Jesus Arenas Gonzalez has qualified for the boys 5000-meter run on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

"This is our first year as a high school and our first year having an athletic program in so long, so I am pleasantly surprised," said head coach Cameron Hammontree.
