HOWARD COUNTY, Texas (KOSA) - The Howard County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about an active phone scam in which callers impersonate law enforcement officers and falsely claim people missed jury duty.

According to the sheriff's office, scammers are using technology that makes incoming calls appear to come from an actual Sheriff's Office telephone number.

The callers tell residents they failed to respond to a jury summons issued through the Howard County District Clerk's Office.
