Credit: Michael Karlis In her first press conference as governor-elect, Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa told reporters Thursday that she and her team are "actively interviewing people" to replace Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath.

Firing Morath, an appointee of Republican Gov. Greg Abbott who has served in the role since 2016, was one of Hinojosa's campaign promises and one she appears ready to prioritize.
