WINONA, Texas (KLTV) - A Winona Elementary School student brought a BB gun to the campus last week, Winona ISD announced Monday in a letter sent to parents, guardians and staff.

Superintendent Justin Cowart wrote that the school received a report from a student that another student had a gun in their backpack.

After the report, the student was immediately escorted by law enforcement and campus administration to a secure area, where officials searched the student and their backpack, Cowart wrote.
