TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Tyler City Council approved a $287 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year in a 4-2 vote, cementing a 75% funding cut to the region's local public health department.

The Northeast Texas Public Health District, known as NET Health, will see its city funding slashed from $200,000 to $50,000 for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

City officials defended the reduction by pointing to NET Health's significant financial reserves.
