A program addressing immigration law will be presented at the next monthly meeting of the Gillespie County Democratic Association when members and guests meet Wednesday, Oct. 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Gillespie County Democratic Party headquarters, 209 N. Crockett St., Suite 1. Presenting the program will be Denise L. Knapp, a retired U.S. diplomat with more than 30 years of leadership experience in international affairs, immigration, government relations and public service.

During her career with the U.S. Department of State, she served in senior leadership positions across Mexico, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, the Dominican Republic and Washington, D.C., managing complex operations, leading multinational teams and responding to high-profile humanitarian and security crises.

A recognized expert in immigration policy, stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural collaboration, Knapp has worked closely with U.S. and foreign government officials, law enforcement agencies, nonprofits and community leaders to advance legal migration, protect vulnerable populations, strengthen international partnerships and protect U.S. national security while facilitating legitimate travel for foreign nationals.
