NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - According to Feeding America data, one in nine working-age veterans is food insecure - and a Nacogdoches Scout troop is stepping up to help.

Members of Troop 107 have spent weeks collecting non-perishable food items for veterans in need, working in partnership with Hunger Free Nac Sin Hambre, a new nonprofit formed to address food insecurity across Nacogdoches County."It's important to help our community because it's just part of being a stable community, and the community defines helping each other," Scout Augustus Snellings said.

Fellow Scouts Benjamin Morris and Curtis Killen agreed.
