Houston is one step closer to putting drone technology in the hands of public safety officials.

City Council voted Wednesday to authorize the city's pursuit of federal funding that would expand aerial oversight and situational awareness at large-scale public events.

This is Houston's first step toward securing a share of Fiscal Year 2027 Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems Grant Program (C-UAS-GP) funding.
