HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A northwest Harris County mother is speaking out after her 5-year-old daughter was shot and killed while riding in the family car - and the man accused of pulling the trigger is now facing capital murder charges.

Monica Hicks was driving her five children home from her mother's house when investigators say Jeremy Porter, 47, opened fire on their vehicle.

Her youngest daughter, Zah'Layah Walton, was struck and killed.
