LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock residents can now petition the city to pave their alleys if a two-thirds majority of homeowners on the block agree and funding is secured upfront.

The Lubbock City Council approved an amended ordinance on the process following consideration of a similar proposal several months ago.

Council members originally considered a measure requiring 100 percent neighborhood consent, but ultimately approved the two-thirds threshold."I think what we have here today as this ordinance is an example of good governance," District 3 Councilman David Bruegel said.
