NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges publicly opposed the county's proposed budget on Tuesday, marking the first time in his 16 years attending county budget approval meetings that he has done so."We do not have enough staffing. And that is the bottom line, we do not. I know that you can only hear these words, but we are living it each and every day," Bridges said.

Sheriff cites pay disparity"For us to continue on this budget path and not to address this issue is simply unacceptable," Bridges said.

Last year, the county provided a 2% cost-of-living raise for its employees.
