TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Incumbent Republican state Rep. Cole Hefner (R-Mount Pleasant) is vying for a sixth term in Texas House District 5 against Democrat Hector Garza.

The district encompasses Camp, Rains, Titus, Upshur, Wood, and parts of Smith County.

Garza, 61, is a former chair of the Smith County Democratic Party.
