MANVEL, Texas - The Manvel Police Department is responding after Mayor Dan Davis called for the city to end its contract with Flock, the license plate reader company used by law enforcement agencies across the greater Houston area.

In a detailed statement responding to KPRC 2 News questions, the Manvel Police Department defended its use of the technology while acknowledging that the mayor's concerns about data privacy, cybersecurity and network sharing are legitimate questions that deserve answers.

"MPD supports the responsible use of technology when it helps our officers investigate crime and protect the community," the department said.
