DURANT, Oklahoma (KXII) - The Fall Festival at the Choctaw Cultural Center kicked off a busy run of events for the Choctaw Nation, drawing visitors from across the country to Durant.
Attendees learned to cook traditional dishes, took part in Choctaw dances and supported Native artists, including Kimberly Taylor, owner of Native Trendz."It's exciting. It's awesome. I love meeting new people that come in," Taylor said.
Sharing Choctaw culture with the worldKerrie Steve with the Choctaw Cultural Center said events like the Fall Festival help the Nation connect with people both near and far, including Choctaw tribal members who live outside the area."That's always been one of our goals, is to share who we are as people with those that can't particularly be here in this area," Steve said.
