New World screwworm infestations have not yet been documented in state wildlife despite more than 42 cases in domestic animals, but the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department expects that to change in August.

The state agency anticipates that reports of infestations among wild animals may increase during the pre-hunting and hunting seasons because of increased surveillance by hunters.
