The Native Plant Society of Texas, Kerrville chapter, has named Inland Sea Oats its "NICE" (Natives Instead of Common Exotics) plant of the season for fall 2026.

Chasmanthium latifolium, also known as Inland Sea Oats, River Oats or Wild Oats, is a perennial grass native to the Edwards Plateau.

The plant controls erosion, particularly along riverbanks, and supports riparian restoration efforts.
