During the citizens presentation portion of the Brownwood City Council meeting Tuesday morning, Otis Felton announced the recent creation of the Rotary Club of Brown County, which will operate as the Heart of Texas Rotary Club.

"We have been allowed permission to market ourselves and be known as the Heart of Texas Rotary Club," Felton said.

"The Heart of Texas name was chosen because we want to be more than just a Brownwood Rotary Club. We want to be a club for the region. There are communities right now that do not have a Rotary Club like Coleman, Comanche, Blanket, Bangs, and Goldthwaite. We are serving all those areas." There were 46 members of the club at its inception on March 29, with a goal to reach 100 by June of 2027. "We're not here to duplicate any of the good work that is going on now with the organizations that are doing excellent work," Felton said.
