THING ONE I heard a coach mention in an interview I was conducting that Club Sports is a "necessary evil." On one side of the coin, it can be seen as a way to develop players.

On the other side of the coin, it can lead a player and/or parents into thinking that if they pay the money and put in the time, then they have somehow purchased their child playing time and a spot on the varsity roster.

Nothing can be further from the truth.
