A Floresville man was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material through the messaging app Kik, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas.

Jose Carvajal Jr., 54, was sentenced in federal court in San Antonio to 216 months in prison, U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons announced in a news release.

According to court documents, Carvajal sent child sexual abuse material to others in a Kik group and bragged about sexually assaulting a young child.
