TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The superintendent of Tyler Independent School District says the district is prepared to navigate a growing list of challenges facing Texas public schools as a new school year gets underway.

Dr. Marty Crawford, who is 30 years into his career in education, said the start of a new school year brings renewed energy and opportunity."It's like baseball season whenever they get through with spring training," Crawford said.

"It's a brand-new slate, and the possibilities are endless for what type of year we're going to have."Tyler ISD's motto is successful student outcomes - a goal the district pursues in the face of new challenges for Texas public schools.
