Flights bound for George Bush Intercontinental Airport were temporarily grounded Thursday afternoon as thunderstorms moved through the area, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The ground stop is in effect from 1:34 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Thursday, with a 30% to 60% chance of being extended, the FAA said.

The restriction applies to departures headed to IAH from several air traffic control centers, including Atlanta (ZTL), Houston (ZHU) and Fort Worth (ZFW).
