SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A sign that once hung in front of the Texas Theater in the early 1940s is coming back to Sherman after decades away, including 15 years on display at Austin's Bullock Museum.

The theater was one of North Texas' hottest tickets in town at the time, and a place many still remember to this day."It was full almost every, you know, Saturday or Friday night. Theater was full. We'd go as a family, go see movies at the theater, get popcorn like any other family at that time," said Ronald Green, who remembers the theater.

Sign spotted in Austin museumGreen said he came across the sign years ago while visiting a museum near the Texas Capitol."My wife and I were in Austin quite a few years ago visiting a museum by the Capitol and we came across a Texas theater sign and it was lit. So walked up and looked at it and the plaque actually said it was from Sherman, Texas. So it's really cool that it's coming back to Sherman now," Green said."I think it'd be awesome to bring a piece of history back to Grayson County and Sherman," said Steve Burns, who works in Sherman.
