When floodwaters roared down Town Creek in the early hours of July 16, Alma Maldonado awoke to the sounds of rushing water against her home on West Schreiner Street.

She first went to the front door and found that she could not force it open because the water was against it.

She quickly went to the back door and was able to open it.
