More than six years after a Houston-area teenager disappeared after becoming a victim of human trafficking, authorities have identified her remains, bringing long-awaited answers to a case that had remained unsolved.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Monday that advanced DNA testing identified the remains as Kristen Galvan, who was 15 years old when she disappeared from Montgomery County in January 2020.

The remains were recovered in Missouri City on Jan. 29, 2020, but investigators were unable to identify them for years because of their condition.
