Democrat Gina Hinojosa in statistical tie with Gov. Greg Abbott with election less than 100 days out

Credit: Michael Karlis Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa is in a virtual tie with Gov. Greg Abbott, the Republican incumbent, according to a new poll released Tuesday by nonpartisan Texas Public Opinion Research.

Of the 1,048 likely Texas voters surveyed between July 15 and July 17, 45% said they plan to vote for Abbott, while 42% said they prefer Hinojosa, putting the Austin state representative within the 3. 4% margin of error.
