MEXIA, Texas (KWTX) - An unpermitted block party in Mexia ended in violence early Sunday morning, leaving four people injured by gunfire and resulting in multiple arrests, according to a statement released by the Mexia Police Department.

Texas Department of Public Safety and Mexia police officers responded to the 1200 block of East Palestine Avenue late Saturday night for a disturbance, according to the statement.

Upon arrival, officers found an unpermitted street party of several hundred people blocking the roadway and drinking in public.
