The next meeting of the Wrede/Bear Creek Community Club will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Wrede School, 3828 Texas 16 South.

The program for the evening is "The Guenther Mill on the Banks of Live Oak Creek." Carl Hilmer Guenther arrived in Texas from Germany in 1848 and purchased property on the creek and opened Guenther Mill.

In 1859, he moved his mill to San Antonio and renamed it Pioneer Flour Mills.
