LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A local community leader has been recognized on a national stage for her efforts to drive economic development and meaningful change in rural America.

Barbara Leatherwood, Executive Director of the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS), has been selected as the 2026 Honorable Mention recipient of the prestigious Jim Walton Community Impact Award.

Leatherwood was honored last week at the "Stand Up Rural America Summit" in Florida, standing out as the sole Honorable Mention recipient selected from a competitive nationwide pool of nominations.
