A 52-year-old New Braunfels man, Marcos Gallegos, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and eight years in prison for assault family violence by impeding breath or circulation on June 29 after a jury found him guilty, according to a release from the Comal County Criminal District Attorney's office.
Due to the use of a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense, Gallegos will be required to serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
New Braunfels Police Department officers were dispatched to investigate reports of sexual assault of a child and a domestic violence incident involving the girl's mother.
