Region One Education Service Center announced Enrique Ayala from Lyford Elementary and Alissa Shirah from McAllen ISD as Rio Grande Valley teachers of the year.

Region One Education Service Center (ESC) announced the teachers of the year last weekend, with Lyford Elementary fifth-grade teacher Enrique Ayala and McAllen ISD Homer J. Morris Middle School sixth-grade math teacher Alissa Shirah receiving the honors.
